The Emerald Village

River Road is turning green again. The trees, wild flowers, and weeds are all doing their spring work to make this one of the most beautiful places on earth.

The Mayapple's are getting ready to blossom and Morel mushrooms are ready for gathering. The Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, Gold and Purple finches, Baltimore Orioles, and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks are all helping themselves to the bird seed in our feeders.

There are 3 Bald Eagles that have made our stretch of the river their permanent home. They are truly majestic masters of the sky and are always exciting to see. In the ponds and marshes along the road you will see many Sand Hill cranes, Canadian geese, and an assortment of ducks - all nesting and caring for their babies. The turkeys are also doing their annual mating rituals with the Tom's fanning their tails and puffing up their breast feathers to impress the ladies.

LaNah and I have been very busy since January doing finish work on the new cabin. It is nearing completion with running (hot and cold) water to the new bathroom. LaNah has posted a few pictures of the bathroom on her Blog at: http://www.lanahcozycabin.blogspot.com/ if you are interested. We're both new to this Blog stuff so we hope you will be patient.

More later....
